No government, no country can beat Pakistan as regards building up friendship with China: Prof. Li Xiguang

A 30 member Chinese youth delegation headed by Prof. Li Xiguang, Director of Pakistan Study Center at Tsinghua University and also the Dean of School of Journalism at China South Western University, visited Pakistan. The delegation also visited Pakistan China Institute where in Chairman Pakistan China Institute, Mushahid Hussain Sayed, briefed the delegation about Pakistan China relation.

NS. Visits to Pakistan

I have been traveling along Silk Road for the last 22 years. In the summer of 1990, I followed the expedition led by prominent Pakistani Archaeologist Dr.Hassan Dani and during the next two years 1990-92, I traveled with Prof.Hassan Dani on maritime Silk Route, the steps included The Buddhist Silk Route and the Mongolia Silk Route.

In the winter of 1990, we landed at the port of Karachi.Prof.Hassan Dani took me on boat; we started a journey from Venice following Marco Polo's maritime Route.

We traveled for six months. The moment I landed at Karachi, I was greeted with warms and hospitality extended by Pakistani People’s friendship. Then Professor Hassan Dani took me to Mohenjo-Daro to make an expedition and since then I have been studying the culture, history, civilization and development of Pakistan.

NS. Launch of Pakistan Study Center in China

In 2007, the then President Musharraf came to China and had meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao and they decided to launch an Institute on Pakistan Study Center in China and I was appointed a director of Center for Pakistan Studies. Since then I have studying the relationship and current policy of China towards Pakistan. And situation in Afghanistan and in Pakistan. Our center is giving policy advice to Chinese Government to strengthen the friendship and partnership with Pakistan. We believe that Pakistan is the only political ally of China and the most reliable friend of China.

NS. Photo exhibition on Mohan Jodaro

And then in 2009 President Asif Ali Zardari invited me to take a team to organize an exhibition about Mohenjo-Daro. During our 2nd meeting in New York we decided to hold photo exhibition in Tsingua University Beijing, China and President Zardari himself came to Beijing to open photo exhibition on Mohenjo-Daro.

NS: Pakistan China Friendship

Then Pakistan Foreign Ministry asked me to arrange a 30 students and faculty group from Chinese Universities to expose the young generation of China about the warmth and hospitality of the people of Pakistan.

Now for the last 32 hours, my students are enjoying the warmest hospitality of Pakistani People. And our Chinese students believe that in future, no other government, no other country can beat Pakistan as regards building up friendship with China because no other country will be able to offer such warmth and hospitality to Chinese people.
