Chinese Premier Li Keqiang Extends Warm Congratulations to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi,Pakistan PM
Islamabad, Aug. 3: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday to convey the congratulatory message of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

Chinese side believe that under the leadership of PM Abbasi, the Pakistani Govt. will stay committed to maintaining national unity, stability, and will stay committed to promoting economic and social development, PM Li Keqiang said in congratulatory letter sent to new PM of Pakistan.

Expressing China’s commitment to continue to promote the development of bilateral cooperation, Premier Li wrote "Chinese side is ready to work with the Pakistan side to strengthen our mutually beneficial China-Pakistan strategic partnership in all fields, and promote the development of CPEC for the betterment of two countries and well-being of peoples, and to contribute to peace and stability of the region”.

Speaking while meeting with Chinese ambassador, PM Abbasi said that he will work to implement CPEC, personally supervise speedy completion of CPEC adding that China Pakistan economic cooperation will be further enhanced during his tenure.

Chinese Ambassador, Sun Weidong, in his remarks said under leadership of PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, China-Pakistan partnership will further strengthen, and Pakistan will further prosper.

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Office also congratulated to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on assuming the post of Prime Minister of Pakistan.
 "China extends warm congratulations to Mr. Abbasi on assuming the post of Prime Minister of Pakistan", said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Geng Shuang in his remarks on Aug 2, 2017.

China has invested $62 billion in Pakistan under  the framework of CPEC, a long-term development project worth  comprising of power plants and energy pipelines, 46 Special Economic Zones (SEZs), fiber optic network, and network of highways and railways linking western China’s Kashgar to a deep-water Gwadar port on Pakistan’s Arabian Sea coast.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, took oath on Tuesday as interim PM of Pakistan.

He previously served as the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources in the third Sharif ministry from 2013 to 2017.

As a minister he has met Chinese leaders on various occasions.

On July 4, 2017, Abbasi held meetings with Chinese delegation headed by Administrator National Energy Administration (NEA) Nur Bekri who called him in Islamabad, Pakistan.

During the meeting, Pakistan and China agreed to establish a Gas Sub-Group under the Energy Working Group (EWG) aimed at facilitating the existing and future oil and gas sector projects.
