Pakistan to construct mega projects to boost economy with assistance of China: PM

Islamabad, Aug 30: Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that his government is determined to construct mega projects with the assistance of Chinese government which will boost the economic activities in the country and the region.
The Prime Minister said this while meeting members of China State Construction Company led by Managing Director of the company Li Ji Qin in Lahore on Friday.
Highlighting the importance of better communications networks‚ the Premier said that the significant Karachi-Lahore Motorway must be constructed early to benefit a huge population.
The Prime Minister said that construction of Karachi-Lahore Motorway will ease the commuting between Karachi and other major cities of the country. He added that the road will also serve for speedy and early trading of goods.
Li JI Qin informed the Prime Minister that his company has already started the feasibility study of Karachi-Lahore motorway on their own expenses as technical assistance to the government of Pakistan. He added that his company has recently constructed a 600 km motorway in Congo and would be able to construct the Karachi-Lahore motorway in three years.
The Prime Minister‚ however‚ advised the State Engineering Executives to reduce the three years' time by making construction consortiums for the project. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that Karachi-Lahore Motorway must be completed in less than two and a half years.
